The United Association founded October 11th, 1889, with humble beginnings of a generation who sought to bargain for more equitable livable wages and safe jobsite workplace conditions. The organization has now grown to 360,000+ members throughout the United States and Canada.
The United Association is an affiliate of the Building & Construction Trades Unions which is made up of fourteen craft affiliations. The Building Trades has over 3 million members throughout all the organizations.
The Building Trades is an affiliate of the overall AFL-CIO, is made up of Unions throughout the United States. The AFL-CIO is voluntary federation of 58 national and international labor unions that represent 12.5 million working people.
