Our Political Action Committee & Legislative Initiatives

Research Engage Advocate Defend Yield

The Local 248 members elected to create a Political Action Fund to engage in the legislative and administrative regulations of our State, Counties and Cities.  The Local 248 PAC Fund is funded by $0.05 per hour worked by our members who elect to be involved in the war on the middleclass way of life that our forefather built and fought for. We understand our small financial contributions wont in and of itself cure the decline of public protection and working-class fair share pay that has eroded over the past several decades. Our leadership team and officers have and continue to build relationships with Politicians from all political parties to be involved in the decision-making process of laws that impact our industry and eastern Kentucky region.

We will always be on the side of protection of our citizens health and wellbeing through Codes and Standards that brought our nation out of the stone ages and made America the envy of the world.  If you don’t consider codes and standards as important, ask your grandparents or great-grandparents or study history books about a world without clean potable drinking water and sewer systems to remove waste from dwellings.  Search for how American Rivers had so much toxic waste poured into them from unscrupulous industries that they caught fire and burned for days.  Search for stories like the shirtwaist factory fire of 1911, where impoverished young teenage girls were forced to work instead of attending school like their wealthy counterparts. They were locked into their place of employment and burnt alive in a fire while the city didn’t have Fire Protection or rescue equipment to reach the windows to save them.  Search for the stories that were in the southern part of our jurisdiction where Workers was shot for refusing to work in unsafe working conditions. Are you READY to get involved yet?

We are READY to research, engage, advocate, defend and yield actionable results in Public Protection, we ask you to join us in our endeavors?
